Gerald J. "Joe" DeGeorge76, of Franklin, died peacefully, Saturday March 28, 2015 with family by his side, at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence, RI following an illness.
Born April 28, 1938, in Newton, a son of the late Edward P. and Helen L. (Pickard) DeGeorge, he was a longtime resident of Newton and he moved to Franklin in his later years.
"Joe" was raised and educated in Newton, and until his retirement, worked as a custodian for the Newton public schools.
He served his country proudly as a member of the United States Air Force. He attained the rank of A/3C and was honorably discharged in May 1959.
"Joe" was known as the life of the party and made everyone smile with his quirky personality. He enjoyed being around his family and always enjoyed eating good food.
He is survived by his siblings; Dianne DeGeorge Kiedaisch and her husband Glenn of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Jon S. DeGeorge and his wife Catherine of Foxboro, Michael A. DeGeorge and his wife Linda of Montpelier, Vermont, Jane DeGeorge Moore and her husband Jeffrey of Franklin and Lisa DeGeorge and her husband Stephen Bennett of Enfield, New Hampshire. Also surviving are his nieces & nephews; Michael, Jason, Duncan, Cristy, Tristan, Sarla, Ethan, Matthew, Cassandra, Andrew, Danielle, Jake, Christopher, and great nieces & nephews; Evyan, Teia, Mallory, Travis, Max, Whittier, Daschel and Owen.
He was the brother of the late Edward M., David A. and Peter D. DeGeorge.
A Celebration of Life Service and burial with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery will be held privately.
There are no calling hours.
