Susan L. (Mitchell) Rittenhouse 50, of Franklin, died peacefully, Thursday March 26, 2015 at the Rose Monahan Hospice home in Worcester, with her husband at her side. She was the beloved wife of David S. Rittenhouse.
Born July 13, 1964 in Indianapolis, Indiana a daughter of Shirley Ann (Baranowski) Mitchell of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the late Harvey D. Mitchell, she was a former resident of Randolph, and had lived in Franklin since 1994.
Susan was raised and educated in Pittsburgh, and was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where she received a bachelor's degree in economics. She worked as a marketing manager for the former Hills Department Stores.
She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. She treasured time spent with her family, gardening, biking, fishing and playing tennis. She also raised a therapy dog, Dakota, which she brought to Mt. St. Rita Health Center in Cumberland, RI. Susan was a member of the Board of Directors for the Franklin Public Library, a member of St. Mary's Church, Franklin, and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
In addition to her husband of 22 years and her mother, she is survived by her children, William Penn "Will" Rittenhouse of Franklin, Rebecca Marie "Becky" Rittenhouse of Franklin, 3 brothers Robert S. "Stoney" Mitchell and his wife Marjorie Of Richmond, Virginia, Charles "Chuck" Mitchell and his wife Trinette of Medway and Michael J. "Mike" Mitchell and his wife Rachel of Virginia Beach and her nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Wednesday April 1st, at 9AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. with a funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Franklin at 10AM. Her interment will be held privately.
Calling hours are Tuesday from 5-8PM at the funeral home.
